Covid situation in control, allow Chhath Puja celebrations, Kejriwal writes to LG

Jammu, October 14: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today wrote a letter to Lt Governor Anil Bajaj, requesting him to allow Chhath Puja celebrations in the national capital. “Neighbouring states like Haryana, UP and Rajasthan have allowed Chhath puja celebrations with Covid-19 protocols,” the letter said.
Delhi on Wednesday recorded 31 new cases of Covid-19 and zero deaths, the city’s health department said. The positivity rate stood at 0.05 per cent. The cumulative tally for Covid-19 cases in the national capital has now climbed up to 14,39,283, while the death toll is at 25,089. So far in October, only 2 covid-related deaths have been recorded and there are 338 active cases in the city.
The Delhi Police is investigating the role of the Pakistan-based terror suspect held in Laxmi Nagar, in terror strikes and bombing cases in Delhi and Kashmir from 2009-2017. A senior police officer said an NIA team, which was investigating the 2011 Delhi High Court bombing case, has interrogated him to ascertain his role in the case: “Ali has identified one of the convicts in the bombing case and said he worked with him. We spoke to NIA and their officers interrogated Ali.”
A Delhi court pulled up Delhi Police officers over lack of coordination and their “confused conduct” in connection with a Northeast Delhi riots case. Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat Tuesday directed that a copy of the order be sent to Special Commissioner of Police, Division- I (Law and Order), to ensure better coordination between police officers and prosecution and for effective prosecution of riots cases.
