Inspects work progress on bridges executed by JKPCCA


BUDGAM, OCTOBER 13: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Budgam, S. A. Mirza today said that the focus of his administration is to get the work on all ongoing projects including bridges completed within the set timelines, keeping in view the impending winter weather conditions.
These remarks were made by the DDC during his visit to many areas of Tehsil Beerwah including Sail, Zanigam, Arwa and other areas.
The DDC accompanied by all concerned officers and executing agencies undertook a physical inspection of under construction bridges coming at Nallah Sukhnag at a cost of Rs 6.48 Cr under executing agency JKPCC.
During the inspection, the DDC was informed that remaining work on the bridge will be completed within 50 days as 80 percent of the work has already been completed. The bridge is of significant importance as it will connect a large area of Tehsil Beerwa with the whole Kandi area of Tehsil Khag.
The DDC at Sail held a public interaction session to take on spot appraisal of the grievances/ problems faced by the local population including drinking water and power supply, improvement of canals, improvement of roads, upgradation of educational institutions.
The list of demands/grievances were put forth by the concerned Sarpanch verbally as well as through memorandum .The demands include up gradation of sheep and animal husbandry units, awareness camps by Horticulture and Agriculture departments in the areas, reopening of Naib Tehsildar Office etc.
Responding to issues, the DDC assured that next week the Horticulture and Agriculture department will hold an awareness camp in the area where professional and experienced Horticulturalists will impart necessary awareness to the orchards. In addition, the Department of Animal /Sheep husbandry will also hold awareness camps in the area.
The DDC assured that the genuine demand put forth including those that need immediate response shall be addressed as soon as possible.
Later, the DDC also visited Arwa village where he undertook a physical inspection of the bridge being constructed by JKPCC at an estimated cost of Rs 5.23 Crs. The DDC on spot directed the concerned to expedite the acquisition of requisite approach land process within two days in connection with construction of the bridge.
The officers who accompanied the DDC include SDM Beerwah, CEO, Ex. Engineers of PDD, PHE and Irrigation besides other concerned.
