Jammu: Jammu Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a terrorist associate in Drone Dropping Case of October 2 in Phallian Mandal area of Satwari.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Jammu Chandan Kohli, said that an Over Ground Worker (OGW) from Anantnag, who was reportedly in touch with handlers from across border was nabbed, adding, “the terror associate was tasked to collect the drone dropped consignment of arms and ammunition that was found lying in fields in Phalian Mandal area of Satwari on October 2.”
The SSP said that during investigation, some vital clues were received by special investigating team and an OGW from Anantnag was put under scanner who was found in constant touch with some militant outfits from across border.
“The arrested OGW was asked to collect the consignment, which however, was recovered by police”, he said and identified the arrested person as Irfan Ahmead Bhat of Verinag, Anantnag, who is a associate of terrorists.
A case has already been registered in this regard, he said.
The terror associate has also confessed that he was in continuous touch with handlers across border and is also associated with LeT.
He had come here to receive consignment seized by Police including one AK series rifle, 3 magazines, 30 rounds, and one Optical sight.
Further investigation of the case is going on, said the SSP.
