Inaugurates 30-day exhibition cum sale at ‘Jammu Haat’

Jammu: While enumerating the steps being taken to encourage investment and promote industrial development in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Anupriya Singh Patel on Tuesday said that under new industrial policy, around 4.50 lakh unemployed youth will get employment in Jammu and Kashmir.
Wrapping up her two day visit to district Rajouri as part of the Central Government’s Public Outreach Programme, the Union Minister informed that in a major decision, the Government of India has approved a new Industrial Developmental Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir.
“The scheme will go a long way in ushering an era of socio-economic development of the region and for catering to the aspirations of people and it will also provide impetus to Micro, Small, Medium and larger enterprises”, she informed.
The Minister informed that an Industrial land bank has been established for Industrial Growth and 6000 acres of land has been acquired.
“Under this new Industrial policy, 4.50 lakh unemployed youth would be provided employment”, the Minister informed and said, “to tap the export potential of agricultural and industrial products, the Government is engaging with states and union territories to implement the Districts as Export Hub (DEH) initiative in all districts of the country.”
While stressing on export promotion, the MoS said that it will play a considerable role in employment generation and asked the concerned to make a suitable district export plan to make the district an export hub of indigenous products.
The Minister said that the Union Government is committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in its functioning which are necessary for democratic and participative governance, as they help build trust and improve the impact of schemes.
“All efforts are being made to bring JK into mainstream development and several schemes have been launched in this regard”, she said.
Terming the three-tier system a boon for democracy, Patel said that the system is playing a crucial role in strengthening democracy at the grassroots level as the people themselves are now formulating the plans as per the needs of their areas.
Later the Union Minister of State for Industries and Commerce, Anupriya Singh Patel on Tuesday inaugurated a 30 days exhibition cum sale under the public outreach programme here at Jammu Haat to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav.
Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce, Ranjan Prakash Thakur, Director, Industries and Commerce Jammu, Anoo Malhotra accompanied the Minister.
The main attraction of the exhibition was the live show of local music by the Information Department, live food stall, Handloom and Handicraft, Horticulture and Archives stalls.
The DIPR also organized a Photo Exhibition under the slogan of ‘My Heritage My Pride’ which was highly appreciated by the Union MoS.
While taking the round of the stalls, the Minister apprised the success stories of beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Women Entrepreneurs financed through the Industries and Commerce Department.
Such entrepreneurs are inspiring the others youths to become entrepreneurs and consternate on become ‘Job Provider’ instead of ‘Job Seeker’ for which the interested candidates shall also be extended financial assistance under the PMEGP.
Earlier, welcoming the Union MoS, Director Industries and Commerce apprised that the main aim for the building of ‘Jammu Haat’ is for the local manufacturers, artisans, craftsmen and service providers to come, display and sale their products so as to enable them for the promotion of their products.
She further elaborated that this will be the now the regular feature and such exhibition shall be now conducted regularly. The main attractions are the ethnic local Dogra food court.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been also signed in the presence of Union MoS, Principal Secretary I&C and Director Industries and Commerce between District Industries Centre, Jammu through its General Manager and Food Craft Institute (FCI), through its Principal, at Udyog Bhawan, Jammu.
On the occasion, the Union Minister was informed that the Institute shall provide the 1 ½ year Diploma course for the Hotel & Hospitality sectors in Food Production, Food & Beverages Operations etc. with its House placement cell. In addition, the Institute will also extend the free of cost courses on ‘Hunar Se Rozgar’ in Multi Cuisine, F&B Service, Room Attendant, Front Office Associate as well as Entrepreneurship Programme in baker, Barman, Cook Tandoor, Halwai (Indian Sweets), Home Stay (Multi skilled care taker).
In this regard, the was Minister also informed that the District Industries Centre, Jammu shall provide the resource like infrastructure, Guest lecturers, field visits to trainees, provide the resource persons during training etc and shall help the trainees in setting up their ventures so as to entice them to become an entrepreneur. The FCI shall provide its resources and infrastructure required in the procreation of students’ career in respect of registration, guidance, motivation.
Later, the Union MoS has also visited the Industrial units at SIDCO Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, Jammu i.e. Shalimar Floorings and Uflex Limited. At Uflex Limited, various delegations of Industrial Associations met with the Union Minister of State I&C and submitted the memorandums regarding their charter of demands.
The Minister gave patience hearing to them and expressed her happiness and that the UT of Jammu & Kashmir is on the path of progress and development having the good potential for employment potentials.
