SAMVEDNA a charity fund raiser of a Cyclothon/ Marathon organised by Yodhini

Jammu: Anahita Anand a student of class XII along with her team organized a fund raiser Cyclothon/ Marathon named Samvedna, starting from the Greenfields Grounds. The Marthon/ cyclothon was divided in multiple categories of 15 Km, 10 Km, 5 Km or 3km depending upon the convenience of the participant.

Samvedna is an initiative by Yodhini, an organization which was made in November 2020 with a bunch of school going children. The main aim of the organization is to fight against gender-based discrimination faced by kids in all walks of life. The organization promotes equality through social media, and on groundwork. And supports giving back to our own community. Aptly named after the Hindi word Samvedna, meaning sympathy and compassion.

The idea was inculcate the ideals of compassion and contribute to making a better world and give a meaning to every action and initiative carried out by this group.

Samvedna works to empower those who are underprivileged with special attention to girls and women owing to the fact that Yodhini is a group fighting for gender equality. This initiative is targeted to help the girl children from Jammu and give them a chance to achieve their dreams and to live the dignified and respectable life they so deserve.

The funds raised by the initiative would be spent on improving the infrastructure for children at Balgram, an orphanage in Transport Nagar, Jammu. The Chief Guest of the function Kr. Ritu Singh, Trustee of the Ashok Kapur Foundation gave huge encouragement to team Yodhini by giving sponsorship for the education of a girl child.

The Marathon was flagged off by Mr. Rajesh Padha, founder of the Jammu Runners club. To give the children their support and boost their morale, the marathon was attended by members of supportive sports clubs viz Ecocyclture, Wonderous Women Club, WDR, Dr. Vikram Sahi, Bishnesh Kumar, Rajinder Gupta, Abhishek Gupta, Mohit Choudhary, Inspector Sukhbir Singh, Dr. Vishal Singh, Manminder Kaur, CA Vikram Garg, Vasudha Samnotra, Shipra Aggarwal & Varuna Sharma.
