Punjab : 2 notorious drug smugglers held with 270 kg poppy husk

Moga, Sep 25: The Moga CIA staff arrested two drug smugglers and recovered 270 kg poppy husk from them, a police source said here on Saturday.
According to Moga SSP Dhruman H Nimbale, acting on a tip-off, police laid a special naka near Smalsar Bus Stand. Police signalled a vehicle to stop and on search seized 270 kg of poppy husk kept in gunny bags from the vehicle. Immediately, it nabbed its two occupants.
The arrested smugglers have been identifed as Roop Singh and Jaswinder Singh, both residents of Rode village. Police have registered a case under NDPS Act in Samalsar police station.
According to preliminary investigation, the smugglers brought the consignment from Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to supply the poppy husk to their permanent customers in Moga and adjoining areas.
