Srinagar: In a major success police busted a “ terror cum recruitment module” of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on Thursday.
A police spokesman said this afternoon that acting on a specific information, police arrested one Assadullah Parray at Hajin in Bandipora.
Militant involved in injuring civilian killed in encounter in Shopian
Srinagar, Sep 23 (UNI) A militant was killed in an encounter by security forces in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Thursday, police said.
Troops of Rashitriya Rifles (RR), Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF launched a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) following a tip off that a militant Anayat Ashraf was hiding in village Kashwa in Shopian after injuring a civilian Jaewer Hameed Bhat last night, a police spokesman said Thursday morning.
He said encounter broke out when security forces were moving towards a particular area in the village. All civilians in the adjoining houses to target area were evacuated. He was offered to surrender for whole night, but he didn’t surrender. Later on, during encounter the newly active militant got killed. One Pistol and ammunition were also recovered from his possession.
Earlier, Last night recently Dar who was earlier an Over Ground Worker (OGW) and also involved in drugs, fired upon a civilian Jeewer Hameed Bhat, who got seriously injured and is still hospitalised. Anayat was also threatening other people in and around his village with his illegally acquired weapons. After thorough interrogation of several suspects after the attack on Bhat and input from sources, a CASO was launched at village Keshwa.

During his questioning Parray admitted that he was heading the LeT module in the Hajin area.
He was maintaining close contact with handlers across the border, the spokesman said, adding Parray was involved in recruitment of innocent boys and also providing them weapons and other logistics.
He said Parray was earlier associated with Jamait-e-Islami ( JEI) before shifting his allegiance to the Masarat Alam led Muslim League (ML). The individual has about a dozen PSAs and FIRs registered against him and spent a good part of the previous decade in custody.
He was running the module through his nephew Naseer Ahmed Parray of Hajin, Haseena of Sheeri, Khursheed, resident of Naidkhai and other who were in continuous contact across the border and would receive detailed instructions for their day to day activities.
Spokesman said apart from recruiting individuals and arranging arms and ammunition for them, the group was also involved in motivating youth to carry out petrol bombs on government buildings and protected persons besides carry out recce of potential targets.
He said a huge quantity of incendiary materials was recovered from them which was to be used for making Petrol Bombs.
On the disclosures made by the arrested persons two individuals Rafeeq of Naidkhai and Hilal Ahmed Shah of Shah Mohalla Hajin ,who were about to join militant ranks at the instance of this group, have been detained and are being questioned.
In this regard, further investigation is underway and more arrests are expected, he said.
