JKP’s hi-tech app to keep tab on suspects boarding hotels

Jammu:To keep a tab on suspicious elements staying in hotels, lodges and other hospitality centres, Jammu Police while making an optimum use of technology have introduced an App to monitor any unwanted activity.
Reliable sources said that as terrorist organizations are trying hard to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir, in a first, the Jammu Police have initiated to keep check on such elements by getting details of travelers especially those boarding a hotel or a lodge on a social media app to keep them under surveillance.
“No stone will be left unturned when it comes to national security and as a part of this exercise, a special App has been introduced to break the network of terrorist organizations active in the region,” a senior police officer revealed.
He said that the App will be keeping an eye on those staying in different hotels of Jammu and under this exercise information of the person checking-in the room will be collected by the special teams constituted.
“The identity cards produced by the travelers while booking a hotel room will also be checked whether it is fake or original and the teams will be monitoring every activity from special control rooms,” he added.
“Sometimes it is hard to gather information on every traveler particularly those who are staying in a hotel but through this App, the police teams will initiate the process of getting credentials of a persons after the details will be shared by the hotel operator on social media to its nearby police station, which is already mandatory,” said the officer.
“A data bank will be framed after gathering information so that every activity can be monitored,” he said.
“If we look past incidents, many times OGWs were arrested from hotels staying as passengers and this prompted the Jammu Police to introduce this technology,” he aid adding, “as per the App, as soon as the passenger check in the hotel, provides information, the hotel operator have to pass the same to the app.”
The identity card and other information given by the passenger have also to be made available in the app, which will be operated only by the cops.”
“In this era of technology, Jammu Police is making its absolute use and it will definitely help in preventing any untoward incident with prompt action,” said the officer.
