Police arrest 7 drug peddlers, recover contraband in Baramulla

Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested seven drug peddlers and recovered heroin in this north Kashmir district.
A police spokesman said that continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 7 drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
He said police established a naka checkpoint at Nanak Bhawan in Baramulla during which four persons identified as Mohammad Safeer Jagwal, resident of Sarai Uri, Abdul Rashid Bhat resident of Saripora Rafiabad, Mohammad Yousuf Gojri resident of Mohalla Syed Karim Baramulla and Aijaz Ahmad Rather resident of Magraypora Wussan Pattan.
During their checking, police recovered 970 grams of Heroin from them.
Similarly in another action, police from Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Dewanbagh Baramulla intercepted three persons identified as Mohammad Ashraf Wani resident of Drangbal Baramulla, at present Poshbagh Fatehpora, Abdul Lattef Shah resident of Garkote Uri and Shahid Majeed Bhat resident of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla. During their checking, police recovered 300 grams of Heroin from them.
Accordingly, Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at Police Station Baramulla and further investigations have been initiated. Preliminary investigation reveals that the arrested accused persons are involved in selling drugs to youth of Baramulla Town and in its surrounding areas.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
