Internal exams in Women Polytechnic to start next week

Internal examinations for first semester students of all branches in Government Polytechnic for Women, Jammu, are going to start next week onwards. After Diwali, second and fourth semester students will also sit for their internal exams though the date has not been finalized yet.
Last week, College Principal Neelanjana Manwati held a meeting with parents of students who live in college hostel. Manwati said that the parents were told about the progress reports of their children.

A delegation of ABVP activists led by State Joint Secretary, Abhinav Pandotra submitted a memorandum to Vice-Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof. R. D. Sharma.
The delegation demanded smart cards for all regular students for access to Central Library, single window system for examination forms and fee submission etc., Wi-Fi facility for students on campus, refund of re-evaluation fee in case of enhancement of marks, security for women on campus, completion of new boys and girls hostel at the earliest, inquiry number for centralized information, open elections for Jammu University Students Union, regular placement drives for professional courses, access to research related journals and data-based links which are relevant to research scholars, increase in number of scholarships (M.Phil./Ph.D.) upto 10 per department and installation of CCTV cameras at all vulnerable places.
Speaking to The News Now, Abhinav Pandotra said that the memorandum was submitted after a proper survey by ABVP activists. He added that the students have been demanding these facilities for a long time. He said that the Vice Chancellor has given assurance to look into their demands.
The college administration has also installed an inverter in reading room and in mess block.
Government College Women Gandhi Nagar is gearing up for National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) appraisal and the SSR (Self Study Report) has been submitted.
Principal Kiran Bakshi said that college is more concerned on the all-round development of students. The college is introducing smart classes in which students will be taught with electronic gadgets.
The college authorities have constituted a team of experts for overseeing the implementation of smart classes. Special trainers will be hired to train teachers on the importance and usage of technology and devices to be used in teaching.
Bakshi said that it has become necessary for every educational institute to introduce smart classes.
She also said that the college stresses on skill development of the students so that on completion of their studies they are in a position to start their own venture.
Bakshi also hailed the students who participated in the Display Your Talent competition organized at University of Jammu. She said that students of her college bagged most of the awards.
