Much awaited flyover

To ease out the traffic mess on Jammu-Pathankot national highway, the work of Satwari-Kunjwani flyover will commence by end of this year and to be completed by 2024.The work will be executed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in an area of 4 km long stretch between Kunjwani to Satwari while the tenders for the same will be opened on September 15. The flyover will be constructed from Kunjwani to Satwari Chowk—the gateway to Jammu City, which will not only give relief to the visitors, but will also ease out traffic mess on this road.An amount of Rs 1821.72 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of the flyover and it will be completed in view of providing convenience to the passengers connecting it with the Central Government’s Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway project.Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma had raised the issue vigorously in the Parliament in January, stating the need for construction of flyover on Kunjwani-Satwari road.The construction of Kunjwani-Satwari flyover will help in streamlining and speeding up the traffic in the city. The construction work will start after completing the formalities within 45 days from the date of award of tender and the deadline is to be met in three years that by 2024, the flyover has to be completed.The visitors entering the Jammu city will not have to face jam-like situations to reach their destinations once the flyover is completed,” he expressed.The Central Government is very much serious about development in Jammu and Kashmir and as part of this vision, the construction of a flyover from Kunjwani to Satwari in Jammu has been approved while the work will commence by year end.He added that the expressway is also being constructed sidewise, providing relief to those who visit Shri Mata Vaishno Devi from other parts of the country.The journey from Jammu to Delhi can be completed in six to 7 hours after the execution of these multi projects.
