Unceasing police action against Narcotic peddling in Anantnag continues

Srinagar: Jammu and Kahmir police in south kashmir's anantanag district is claiming to continuing its war against the Drug menace arrests a drug peddler and recovered huge consignment of poppy straw, police said today.

Police Station Mattan had received an information through reliable sources that one Mohd Shafi Najar S/O Gh Mohammad Najar resident of Mattipora Nanil has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded large quantity of Poppy straw in his residential house.

Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of NDPS Act got registered in police station Mattan were investigationare being taken up. Besides a search team comprising of SHO Police Station Mattan and Executive Magistrate Mattan was constituted who carried out the search of the house, police said.

During a search of the house about 500 KG’s of Poppy Straw was recovered from the residential house of the said person which was seized on spot and accused arrested.

Meanwhile, police added that, further investigation in the instant case continues.

However, SSP Anantnag Imtiyaz Hussain has expressed gratitude to people of Anantnag for being forthcoming in supporting the endeavour of police to eradicate the menace of drugs in the District and reiterated the firm resolve of Anantnag police to go to the last criminal to ensure that everyone involved in the illicit trade is brought to justice and rule of law is enforced.
