Please tell us more about Amit Punjabi as a person.

I have been in the field of behavioural sciences for over 15 years now, and my experiences with people from different walks of lives has helped me develop a keen sense of observation. This has played a huge role in me helping people generate better and powerful perspectives, for the most important areas of their lives, which directly creates a positive impact on the results they produce. I continue to research and experiment with various tools and resources from the fields of cognitive studies, semantics, psychology and philosophy to create experiences based on what is relevant today instead of using outdated belief systems that most people still seem to be restricted by.

Has writing always been a part of your life? Or did you chance upon it later on and then instantly fell in love with it?

The desire to write started in my early 20s. I initially would write only for my personal blog page and the desire later evolved to writing a whole book.

Please tell us more about your book “Build The Home Team”.

The concept of this book is really simple. While most people tend to spend a lot of time, money and resources to build their teams at work, they usually forget that there is team at home as well which is in fact responsible for almost everything you are capable of achieving. This team at home deserves more attention and mentoring to become a high performing unit. The book aims at ‘How’ to make that possible.

How has the response of readers been to your book?

It has been truly rewarding because all readers who have reviewed it so far have not just read the content but also understood the intent behind it and were kind enough to share their appreciation for the same. The book was also listed as one of the “Top 10 Preeminent Books to Read in 2020” by DeMode Magazine, and in the month of December last year, Kiahra was awarded “Best Author in Family Consulting” at a national summit held for women entrepreneurs and influencers.

You have co-authored this book with Kiahra Punjabi. What was the collaborative process between you two co-authors like?

Well, Kiahra and I have been married for close to 10 years now but have known each other for 17 years. Since college, we have collaborated in almost every aspect of our lives to stay driven, and we approach everything that we desire to achieve with certainty and the right intent. It was the same experience while writing this book as well.

What challenges did you face while writing this book, and how did you overcome them?

The challenge was mostly about how to put the experiences we have had into the right words so that readers can truly get what we mean. What helped in overcoming this were the constant conversations and discussions between me and Kiahra that ended up becoming the content of the book. If you read it, you will really perceive it as a conversation itself.

What is the message that you want readers to take away from this book?

The fact that even success sometimes is overrated. What is more important is alignment and balance and the only set of people who can help us achieve that are the members of our family. No one else can do it better.

Can you recommend five books from any genre, for our readers to add to their reading lists, that you particularly cherish?

“Chicken Soup for The Soul” by Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen; “The Book Of Joy” by The Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu & Douglas Abrams; “Tuesdays with Morrie” by Mitch Albom; “The Power of your Subconscious Mind” by Dr. Joseph Murphy; and “Mind Full to Mindful” By Om Swami.

There are many new writers and poets who are aspiring to get their work published. What would you say to them?

Look at it as an experiment first. it does not have to be the best book but more of what you want to share with others. Your first book is mostly only about the experience of becoming an author & relating with people as your readers. Focus on enjoying that process & your next books will just keep getting better.

What are your other interests apart from writing?

I’m an avid biker, a coffee enthusiast, and even play the flute. I have very recently started learning to play the guitar.

What are you working on next? Any exciting new projects our readers should look out for?

I’m in the process of writing my next book which will focus on how a person can possibly find many ways to achieve what he/she desires, and how restrictions are mostly an illusion. It is something that I have been working on for the last 8 years and I’m truly looking forward to sharing it with readers.

Can you share with our readers a motivational quote that keeps you going?

“Make it easy for yourself. Get organized, live the moment. Your day to day activities should not steal your happiness.” – The Bhagvad Gita
