Delhi HC asks response of Centre, Delhi govt in PIL to vaccinate students appearing for board exams

New Delhi, May 7: Delhi High Court on Friday sought the response of the Centre and Delhi Government in a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking vaccination to all class 10 and 12 students who would be appearing for board exams in the 2020-21 session.
The bench headed by Chief Justice D N Patel and comprising Justice Jasmeet Singh was hearing the PIL filed by Advocates Jyoti Aggarwal, Sanjivani Aggarwal, and Pradeep Shekhawat.
The plea contended that as per news reports the new strain of COVID-19 was affecting youngsters the most.
So the students appearing for the board exams need to be vaccinated on an urgent basis if the examinations cannot be held online, it is urged.
The bench issued notice to the Ministries of Health and Education and the Delhi Government seeking their stand on the PIL.
The court also asked whether the COVID-19 vaccines using now can be administered to those below the age of 18 years.
Counsel for Delhi Government and Central Government submitted that class 10 Board exams have been canceled while those of class 12 have been postponed.
