J&K Film Policy to showcase scenic destinations of 20 distts

Jammu: The much discussed concern of alleged discrimination with Jammu region in social media arena regarding tourism potential will soon come to an end with proposed Jammu and Kashmir Film Policy showcasing scenic destinations to woo filmmakers of all 20 districts across the Union Territory.

The upcoming film policy of Jammu and Kashmir however, will include prominent and picturesque locations of all 20 districts.

A government official said that in the proposed policy, the locations and facilities for film shootings, have been given the priority, adding, "it is being ensured that not only Kashmir province, but also all the districts of Jammu province should get emphasis on film production activities."

The proposed policy will include top most, beautiful and also the unexplored locations available in all the 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir, he said adding, "the Commissioners of respective districts have been asked to submit details of such existing locations in their respective regions by April 25 as Government is committed to make Jammu and Kashmir a hub for film industry."

An official further said that Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha many unveil the film policy by April ending, the draft of which is almost ready.

"The locations will surely be attracting the filmmakers for the shoot of web series, feature films, serials, music albums and other Bollywood stuff," he said.

He said that letters have been dashed to all the Deputy Commissioners seeking details of each and every scenic locations in their respective jurisdictions with facilities available.

Details of all unexplored places, untouched tourist destinations, religious places, historical places, parks, gardens, Heritage, monuments have to be filled in the prescribed Google form where the shooting can be organised. It should also be mentioned whether the identified locations are cities, villages or towns, details of routes, road conditions, distance, mode of transportation, nearest airport, railway station and bus stand.

"Google forms have been incorporated so that it becomes convenient for filmmakers to ascertain all required details online," said an official adding that details of all hotels and lodges (category wise) have also to be furnished by the Deputy Commissioners.

"Like Kashmir, Jammu region is also blessed with beautiful and mesmerizing destinations and this Film Policy will show the outside world the real beauty of all 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir," an official said.
