With 991 new cases tally swells to 1,39 Lakh

Jammu: The active caseload in Jammu and Kashmir breached 7000 mark on Monday after the 991 tested positive for COVID across the Union Territory while the death toll remains at 2034 as no fresh fatality reported in last 24 hours.

“The second wave of Covid-19 is showing a steep rise in Jammu and Kashmir as the active cases from March 12 to April 12 have increased from 887 to 7,908,” an official said.

So in the last one month the number of active cases have increased by 7,021 cases.

Similarly, he said the number of deaths in the last one month have increased 1,971 to 2,034 that means 63 persons have died of Covid-19 in the last one month.

Moreover in the last one month the case tally has increased from 127,436 to 139,381 that means 11,945 persons have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last one month.

Furthermore, the recovery rate has decreased from 97.76 percent to 92.86 percent in the last one month.

Out of the fresh cases, 499 were reported from the union territory's Jammu division and 492 from the Kashmir division, the officials said, adding that the 991 cases included 383 travellers.

Srinagar district recorded the highest number of 303 cases, including 56 travellers, followed by 181 cases in Jammu and 160 cases, including 157 travellers, in Reasi, they said.

With 418 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 129,439 which is 92.86 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 303 from Srinagar, 53 from Baramulla, 31 from Budgam, 30 from Pulwama, 22 from Kupwara, 25 from Anantnag, 03 from Bandipora, 12 from Ganderbal, 10 from Kulgam and 03 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 499 from Jammu division include 181 from Jammu, 160 from Udhampur, 01 from Rajouri, 00 from Doda, 55 from Kathua, 04 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 00 from Poonch, 01 from Ramban and 97 from Reasi," officials disclosed.

As per officials figures, 32,215 positive cases including 480 deaths and 28,564 recoveries are from Srinagar, 9,192 including 183 deaths and 8,809 recoveries are from Baramulla, 8,636 including 8,137 recoveries and 123 deaths are from Budgam, 6,139 including 5,854 recoveries and 92 deaths are from Pulwama, 6,033 including 98 deaths and 5,723 recoveries are from Kupwara, 5,410 including 5,101 recoveries and 98 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,889 cases including 4,711 and 63 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,810 including 4,681 recoveries and 49 deaths are from Ganderbal, 3,031 including 2,750 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,719 including 2,609 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 27,398 including 25,425 recoveries and 391 deaths are from Jammu district, 4,751 including 4,309 recoveries and 58 deaths are from Udhampur, 3,953 including 3,836 recoveries and 56 deaths are from Rajouri, 3,501 including 3,392 recoveries and 64 deaths are from Doda, 3,561 including 3,347 recoveries and 53 deaths are from Kathua, 2,943 including 2,818 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Samba, 2,787 including 2,734 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Kishtwar, 2,583 including 2,518 recoveries and 26 deaths are from Poonch, 2,179 including 2,139 recoveries and 23 deaths are from Ramban and 2,046 including 1,644 recoveries and 16 deaths are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin 1,617,669 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 64,789 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 7,908 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 1,411,935 persons have completed surveillance period and 131,003 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 6,536,949 samples are available. Out of 6,536,949 the number of samples tested negative stands at 6,397,568 while as 139,381 have tested positive, among them 7,905 persons are active, 129,439 persons have recovered and 2,034 persons have died.
