Helpers, supervisors of ICDS hit streets in Srinagar
Srinagar, Apr 12: Helpers and supervisors of Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) on Monday staged a dharna in Srinagar in support of their demands, including release of pending wages.
''This is our seventh dharna as despite repeated assurance the government has totally failed to do justice with us,'' the women helpers and supervisors said at Press colony, Srinagar.
''Nobody is now listening us,'' they alleged.
Raising slogans against the government, the agitators said their three year wages are pending with the government.
During the International Women day in March, the government had promised several schemes for women of the Jammu and Kashmir without actually doing anything on the ground, they alleged.
Similar promises made during the past three years remained unfulfilled, they alleged. Two girls attempted suicide. ''Now we were being told that our posts are not sanctioned therefore could not be paid any wages since there is no Budget (funds),'' they claimed.
''If our posts are not sanctioned how 850 women were appointed and paid wages before three years,'' they asked.
''We are facing starvation and our children are not being allowed to attend on-line classes by the management of schools as we could not deposit the tuition and other fees,'' they alleged and appealed to Lt Governor to help them.
The agitators were holding placards which also read '' we want justice''. ''Talk to us and address our demands,'' they said.
They said most of our members could not join the dharna because of increase in the COVID-19 cases.
However, they threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands are not met
