DIY MAKE-UP ITEMS: Fill up your Kity

COFFEE UNDER EYE CREAM: To Make Coffee Infused Oil: Coarsely ground 3 tablespoons of whole coffee beans. Combine it with 2 ½ tablespoons of olive oil by weight. Low heat for about 15 minutes, and then strain the oil using a coffee filter in a pinch. Put shea and cocoa butter into a glass container. Heat in the microwave until melted, then weigh out the coffee infused oil and the jojoba oil and stir into the melted butters. Add the lavender essential oils and mix into the other ingredients. Finally, add several drops of Vitamin E as desired and pour into your container of choice.

BASIC TOOTH POWDER: Add 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/4 cup of salt. Add some ground cinnamon (about 1/2 tablespoon), but you could add some peppermint or spearmint essential oil for flavor instead (start with 2-4 drops and add more to taste) to use, wet your toothbrush and dip it in tooth powder. If it tastes way too salty, add a bit more baking soda. Brush as usual. Store your tooth powder or toothpaste in an airtight container.

FACIAL WIPES: Cut up an old clean T-shirt or towel into small squares. Set it aside. Pour the melted coconut oil in a large bowl. Add essential oils and vitamin E or aloe, and stir to combine. Add distilled water and mix again. Lay your cut squares in the bowl to soak up the solution and then transfer to a jar of your choice to store. Use it like any other regular facial cleansing wipe.

ZIT ZAPER: On the stove top, melt 1/8 cup of coconut oil. Add in just a few drops of tea tree oil (no more than 5). Mix to blend and then use an eye dropper to add the mixture into the lip balm tubes. It should only take a few minutes for the coconut oil to set up. Store the tubes in the fridge so they don't melt and use as needed as a homemade zit zapper spot targeting treatment.

THYME TONER: Sterilize your jar and fill it with astringent. Place your thyme into the astringent and let it steep for a day or two in a cool dry place. When finished, it will be amber in colour. Strain your liquid through the coffee filter and into the sterilized toner bottle. And you have a brand new toner!
