Bid to snatch rifle from Bank guard foiled, one arrested in Shopian

Srinagar, Apr 3: Police on Saturday thwarted a bid by suspected militants to snatch a 12 bore Rifle from a guard of Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JKB) branch in south Kashmir district of Shopian, official sources said.

One person has been arrested in this connection and investigation taken up, they said.

Sources said that suspected militants tried to overpower a JKB branch guard at Imamsahib, Shopian, on Saturday. However, the guard raised an alarm and a police party in the area immediately swung into action and foiled the attempt.

One person was taken into custody, they said.
