23 Schools show zero per cent results in Class X board exams

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) department on Friday declared the result of class 10th examination winter zone Kashmir with an overall percentage recorded at 75 per cent.
The exams for class 10th were held last year in November amid Covid-19 pandemic with the student being taught through online classes as schools were closed in the month of March. Whereas Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education Department had announced 40 per cent syllabus relaxation to the students in the examination.
A senior official at JKBOSE said that over 75, 312 were enrolled for the class 10th examination, which included 38, 340 boys and 36, 972 girls out of which 56, 384 students were declared as qualified while 18, 626 pupils were declared as not qualified.
“Whereas, 36, 792 girls (70.6 per cent) and 38, 340 boys (70. 04 per cent) passed the class 10th exam. Further, 41, 026 students enrolled in government schools gave the exam out of which 62.76 per cent (25,749 students) were declared as qualified while out of 34, 106 students from private institutes; 89. 82 per cent (30, 635 students) were declared as qualified”, he added.
He added that as many as 9421 students secured A1 grades, whereas 11, 347 students secured A2, while 11, 050 students secured B1 grade and 10974 students’ secured B2 grades. Also, 42 students have disputed eligibility, 12 pupils have unfair means and the same numbers of students have been disqualified for one year, while 2 students were disqualified for two years, while a result of 11 students will be declared later on.
“Whereas, 23 government schools showed zero per cent result. Out of 23 government schools, 8 are from Srinagar city, 6 are from Baramulla, 4 from Anantnag, while 2 are from Bandipora, Kulgam district and one from Kupwara”, the official added.
“With regarding district wise result of government schools, he added that Anantnag district has 56. 67 per cent over a result, Bandipora 56. 34 per cent, Baramulla 60.35 per cent, Budgam 67.96 per cent, Ganderbal 45.68 per cent, Kulgam 67.10 per cent, Kupwara 65. 54 per cent, Pulwama 73.69 per cent, Shopian 79.35 per cent and Srinagar 54.00 per cent putting to overall 62.67 per cent”, he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that JKBOSE from the last few years have been declaring the result in grades rather than in marks system as officials believe that the marks system have a serious impact on students.
Meanwhile, the Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir have congratulated the matric class pass outs, terming their success as an exemplary show of hard work and dedication by the schools in both private as well as the government sector. The Association said that students in Kashmir have been hit hard by the situation since last so many years but despite so many problems they never let go of the dream of education.
