Principal GMC & AH reviewes development works of SMGS hospital and MCH Gandhi Nagar Hospital

Safety Audits shall be done in SMGS soon

A meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal Govt. Medical College and Associated Hospitals to review the development works in SMGS hospital and Maternal Child Health (MCH) Hospital Gandhi Nagar at SMGS Jammu on tuesday.

During the meeting the PMC was apprised that the tendering for the installation of AC’s for thalassemia ward has been completed and the work shall be completed by the second week of March. It was also decided to repair and renovate the auditorium of SMGS at the earliest.

To streamline the working she emphasised on the opening of the Microbiology lab, which was damaged in the fire accident. It was also to decide to undertake whitewash, earthing of labs and auditorium and installations of electrical fitting.
It was discussed in the meeting that the DPR should be submitted in order to repair and renovate Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) as the requisite funds are available. It was apprised to PMC that the installation of the battery bank/ oscillator for the safety of ventilators in Neonatal Intensive Care unit ( NICU) shall be completed by March.

Principal GMC & AH stressed upon to renovate ward number 14 and 15. She said that all the facilities for the new born babies should be given top class priority and no delay in this regard shall be entertained. She directed the concerned XEN to submit the DPR in this matter.

Principal GMC & AH was informed about the completion of works of ward number 9 and 11. It will be handed over to the concerned departments within a few days.
It was discussed in the meeting that a store for a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is needed and its renovation and repair shall be starting soon.
It was also apprised to PMC and other members present in the meeting that the stage-2 labour room is ready for operationalisation.

Principal GMC & AH stressed upon to upgrade the Oxygen generation plant. She said this is an emergency issue which needs to be sorted out and no delay in this shall be entertained. Dr. Manoj Chalotra, MS SMGS and XEN mechanical apprised the meeting that work is in full swing.

The Principal called for ramping up the Power infrastructure in the SMGS hospital. She stressed for upgradation of transformers and preparation of DPR for Independent Receiving Station. Installation of AC's, replacement of old wiring with cables was also emphasized.

It was informed to all the members that the Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment ( ETAT) is ready but it is not being started due to low oxygen pressure. PMC directed the concerned XEN to operationalize it by march. It was decided to complete all the pending works of the institution as soon as possible.

It was also apprised to the PMC that the cable installation for ward number 14,15 and 16 is in process. Principal GMC directed the XEN electrical, civil and mechanical to submit the DPR’s of other repair and renovation works.

PMC stressed upon to operationalise MCH Gandhi Nagar fully in the interest of patient care. Later she inspected the different wards and medical facilities.
It was stressed during the meeting to start Pediatric surgery, ETAT, NRC, thalassemia ward, upgradation of labs, battery bank/oscillator for the safety of ventilators, renovation of wards, upgradation of stage-2 labour room, oxygen generation plant and Sewage Treatment Plant in a time bound manner. The next meeting to monitor the progress has been fixed for 9 and 10 march for SMGS and MCH respectively.
