Shiv Datt Nirmohi among 14 conferred J-K Govt awards

Jammu: One of the most celebrated writers of Jammu and Kashmir, Padma Shri Award recipient Prof. Shiv Datt Nirmohi among 14 distinguished personalities have been conferred prestigious J&K Government awards here on the eve of Republic Day.

According to government order issued in this regard, Shiv Datt Nirmohi (Writer) has been conferred award for lifetime achievements comprising Rs. 1 lakh, a medal and a citation. “Rafiq Raaz (Poet) has been conferred award for achievement in the field of literature comprising cash award of Rs. 51,000, one shawl and a citation; late Shadi Lal Koul (Actor) in performing arts; Sajad Hussain Dar (Paper Machie Craft) in Arts and Crafts; Dr Naveed Nazir, Prof and Head Pulmonary Medicine, GMC Srinagar, Dr A.D.S. Manhas MO National Health Mission, Riyaz Ahmed Mir, Senior Grade Nurse, CD Hospital Srinagar, Kanta Devi Senior Staff Nurse, GMC Jammu, and H&ME Department for meritorious public service; Sandeep Singh (Mountaineer) and Kabra Altaf (Judo) for outstanding sports persons; Farooq Ahmad Wani (Journalist/Editor, Brighter Kashmir) and Bashir Assad for outstanding media persons; and Suraj Kumar Bansal (Chairman/ Managing Director, Saraswati Group of Companies) for outstanding industrial entrepreneurship”, the order reads.
