Four drug peddlers arrested on Kashmir; heroin, cannabis recovered

Srinagar, Jan 25: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested four drug peddlers and recovered heroin and cannabis in the valley during the past 24 hours, a police spokesman said on Monday.
He said a naka checking was established at Literabal Pampore in south Kashmir district of Pulwama during which a suspicious person identified as Abdul Hamid Sheikh, a resident of Dounnar was intercepted. He said police recovered six grams of heroin from his possession.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 10/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pampore and investigation in the matter has been initiated.
He said a police party intercepted one Ashiq Hussain Kumar, a resident of Kralpora Nunwani Anantnag at Baba Damb in the down town Srinagar. During his search police recovered 170 grams of cannabis from his possession, spokesman said adding he has been arrested and shifted to Police Station M R Gunj.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station M R Gunj and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
He said at another check near Grills Restaurant Nigeen, a police party intercepted a person identified as Tawheed Ahmad Khan resident of Dhobigath Hazratbal Srinagar. During search police recovered five grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Nigeen where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and investigation in the matter has been initiated.
In Handwara, in the frontier district of Kupwara, police acting swiftly on reliable information, established a check point at S-Bendand Langate and intercepted a person identified as Javid Ahmad Malik resident of Guloora. During search, police recovered four kgs of Cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 14/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been initiated.
