Art 370 abrogation blow to insurgency: Amit Shah

JAMMU: Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday said that abrogation of Article 370 and 35A has effectively ended insurgency in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing first Bodoland Territorial Region Accord day celebrations in Kokrajhar in Assam, the Home Minister said, “in Jammu and Kashmir, we abrogated Article 370 and Article 35(A) to end insurgency once and for all with many doubting that it will lead to more bloodshed but in the recent panchayat elections, not a single bullet was fired".
Similarly, the recent violence free BTC polls with 80 per cent voter turnout have also ensured that those who created division and sowed poison among the Bodos and non-Bodos have no place now.
"The presence of all communities in today's rally is a befitting reply to those who had indulged in violence and bloodshed in the Bodo areas as the people have proved that they are all the children of Mother India", he said.
Political rights, culture and language of all communities of Assam is secure under the BJP government and is not the monopoly of any single party or stakeholder.
In Assam for several years, youths were misled on issues of language and culture which led to violence and agitations for decades with the Congress not interested in resolving these issues and "if these had not happened, Assam would have reached greater heights".
"I want to make it clear that all these divisions--Assamese and non-assamese, Bodos and Non-Bodos are all created by certain sections with vested interests to fulfill their political interests and not for welfare of the people or the state", he said.
The Prime Minister, who was in Assam Saturday,had distributed over one lakh indigenous people, and the state government has already made Bodo the associate language of the state along with several measures to protect, preserve and promote the rich culture, language and heritage of all communities of the state, Shah said.
