74 snow clearance machines deputed in 74 wards: SMC

SRINAGAR: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Saturday said that it had sent 74 snow clearance machines from its transport yard and deputed them in 74 electoral wards for snow clearance.

A statement of SMC issued here said that Mayor Srinagar, JunaidMattu remained present at the site while the snow clearance vehicles were leaving for 74 electoral wards of the city.

He directed the concerned to immediately go for clearance of important stretches leading to hospitals, religious places, main roads and other vital destinations in the city.

He passed on directions that all 74 machines would be stationed at wards only so that in case of continuous heavy snowfall, the machines would be constantly put to operational mode for swift removal of snow.

Meanwhile, Mattu tweeted, “SMC’s snow-clerance response has been phenomenal today! My gratitude to all our officers and field teams. All SMC ward offices will remain functional till midnight. 85 teams will remain in the field till midnight! 95% lanes to be cleared by midnight! ‘Thank You’ to my team! (sic).”
