J&K Admn extends high-speed internet ban till Feb 6

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Friday issued an order for the extension of the ban on high-speed internet services till February 6.
According to an order issued by the Government of J-K, Home department, under number Home-02 (TSTS) of 2021, dated 22 January reads that the internet speed shall be continued to be restricted to 2G, except the districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur, where mobile internet connectivity shall be continued to be made available without any speed-related restrictions.
On 5 August 2019, New Delhi clamped curfews and imposed a communication blackout. Though the restrictions were gradually lifted, the authorities have extended the high-speed internet services.
"The postpaid SIM cardholders shall be continued to be provided the access to the internet, whereas, these services shall not be provided to the pre-paid SIM cardholders unless verified as per the norms applicable for post-paid connections," said a statement issued by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The order further reads that the internet connectivity shall be continued to be made available, with Mac-binding.
"The aforesaid directions shall be effective 23 January 2021 and remain in force till 6 January 2021, unless modified earlier," it said.
The order added: "The IGsP, Kashmir/Jammu shall communicate these directions to the service provider forthwith and ensure their implementation in letter and spirit."
