Two drug peddlers arrested, opium recovered in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 19: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered opium in Srinagar, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.

He said a police party arrested two drug peddlers near taxi stand Batmaloo in Srinagar and recovered 34 kgs of opium from their possession.

The drug peddlers were identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather (40 years), residents of Kakroosa Vilgam, Kupwara and Abdul Rashid Dar (33 years), residents of Reban Sopore in Baramulla.

The duo was on way to leave for Punjab where they had planned to sell it.

A case FIR No. 06/2021 U/S 8/18 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Batmaloo and investigation taken up.

Locals of the area have hailed the Police action & are expecting that this type of action against drug menace shall continue in future also.
