Please tell us more about Somdutta Sarkar as a person.

Explorer, traveller, straight-forward, introvert, mentor and guide. I am a simple human being who believes that if you really want something and even if you don’t have any idea how to do it, you CAN make it happen. As a person I realize that there are lots of things to learn, experience and give back to the world. That’s what I am doing each day.

Has writing always been a part of your life? Or did you chance upon it later on and then instantly fell in love with it?

I first started writing when I started travelling, and then I happened to pen down my journeys. It started especially because I wanted to upload the photographs of my travel stories and that’s how I started writing initially.
But the book was a total surprise for me too. When my Mentor, Dev Gadhvi asked me to write my story and the learning that I got in life till date, I laughed and was confused. I was just a blogger, not an author. But because of his push I started writing and that’s how it all started.

Please tell us more about your book “7 Steps From Shame To Being Back In The Game”.

As you can guess from the name, it’s a step-by-step guide for anyone who makes a choice in life. Most of the times, when the results of those choices are not as per our expectations and we realize that we have made some stupid decisions in life; we land in guilt and shame. These are the lowest vibrations anyone can be in. When we are in that phase of guilt and shame, it is not easy to trust ourself again, not easy to trust others as well, not easy to get back the confidence.
And that’s why so many people around us, be it our family members, friends, colleagues and even us, suffer silently without expressing, without uttering a word, without asking for help. Most commonly, for many, the next phase becomes depression or suicide.
Irrespective of how bad choices we make, there is always a way to turn around our life. Always a way to step up and be back in the game. The power and freedom is within us.
The moment we realize and accept that the choice to fall in deep grave was ours, however stupid it was and the choice of coming out of that grave is also ours, we ignite such a strong power within us that nothing holds us back then.
But unfortunately, many people stay shackled by their fears.
Hence, this book is written based out of my personal experiences and learnings. I wanted to help anyone who is in that zone just like I was to come out of it and breathe freely, live freely. It is a guide, a step-by-step process to understand not just the fundamentals and principles but also the practical steps one can implement every single day.
I understand that many people don’t read books because the way many books are written is too complicated or sophisticated. Hence, I wrote this book in the simplest way possible. In a way where you feel like I am directly talking to you, which I am.

What were some of the challenges while writing this book?

The biggest challenge was ‘me’. I was hesitant to share my story. I was thinking that once I share this, people would think how stupid I am, how dumb I could be. These kinds of thoughts were there even when I started writing the book. But slowly I shared some excerpts on social media and realized that so many people had resonated with my thoughts and experiences. Then the push and encouragement from my Mentor made me to finally complete the book and share it with the people who could truly benefit from it.

You work on the programs Intensify Life and Intensify Life Magazine, and have also started the Intensify Humanity podcast. Can you tell us more about these?

Yes, Intensify Life is the name of my Mentorship Program which is where I take my mentees through a process of ‘Freedom’ Framework. My mentees are from various backgrounds and with varied experiences in life. It gives immense happiness when I see them getting results in terms of their self-image, confidence, personality enhancement, multiple sources of income, becoming authors, etc.
Intensify Humanity is my podcast. This is where I got the opportunity to talk directly, discuss, interview and learn from amazing leaders from across the globe. These are Dev Gadhvi, Jasvinder Sanghera, Mark Metry, Aruna Lingam, Avinash Anand Singh, Dipesh Tank, Nithya Shanti, Namrita Chandi, Ron Malhotra, Praveen Wadalkar, Chetan Mahajan, James Guilford, just to name a few.
Intensify Life Magazine is something that I have launched recently and I plan to take it to the global level. This is mostly a lifestyle and self-development magazine that includes different aspects of our life like love, travel, health, and fitness. This is where people can contribute and share through their articles, photographs, stories, poems, etc. Once approved, they will get published in the magazine. Every edition comes out every 2 months.
All these initiatives have been born from a vision, from a dream to intensify life on this planet and thus to intensify humanity. When we start focussing on what all little things we can positively intensify in our day-to-day lives, we see the drastic changes not just happening within us but also around us in our lives.

How can someone contribute and share in your Intensify Life Magazine?

Very easy. By dropping a mail to [email protected]

What message would you like readers to take from this book?

One most important message I would like to share is – when life itself is temporary, how can problems be permanent.

Can you recommend five books from any genre, for our readers to add to their reading lists, that you particularly cherish?

Honestly, there are so many books which I simply love and keep reading multiple times. But I would like to highlight two books that I would like others to read as well along with my book. These are “The Secret” by Rhonda Byrne and “Braving The Wilderness” by Brene Brown.

There are many new writers and poets who are aspiring to get their work published. What would you say to them?

Be who you are. There would be many haters, critics and people who will not like your work. But if you believe in yourself, you can make it happen. Never compete with anyone else other than the yesterday’s version of yourself.

What are you working on next?

I am working on my next book which is also about some real experiences and stories. The name is not yet finalized but will announce soon.

How can our readers connect with you?

The readers can connect with me via any social media channels. Here is the link where you can find all the platform details - https://links.intensifylife.in.

Can you share with our readers a motivational quote that keeps you going?

“Nothing is bigger than my perception. Not even my problems.”
