Themes of Culture, Parasports and LAC Situation to be the highlights of 2nd edition of Yayavar LitFest

Some books being featured in Yayavar Lit Fest 2nd edition

The first edition of Yayavar Lit Fest was a splendacious event, and put the city of Jammu on the literary festival map. The second edition of this literary festival, in a quest of continuing to celebrate the love for literature and writing, is scheduled to be held on 13th December at Garden Estate, Jammu. This year, as there is uncertainty due to the pandemic, Yayavar Literary Festival team is getting prepared to host the local authors, speakers, readers and panelists, bringing forth the true essence of “Vocal for Local”.

Nupur Sandhu, Founder-Director of the literary festival says, “Jammu is a land of rich culture and heritage, talented youth and established authors. So connecting with them and knowing more about their writings and their journey would be an enriching experience”.

On being asked about the preparations for the event, she says, “The event will have about 50 people, and the participants have to follow all the norms of social distancing and masks. The entry is by invite only. Other readers and literature aficionados can watch the event through digital mediums. The Lit Fest will be live on Facebook and will be also be covered by TakeOne TV channel”.

A daylong event which will feature various panel discussions, author talks and cultural performances, the Lit Fest will provide an enthralling experience to the literary fraternity by celebrating literature. The panel discussions which are lined include “LAC Situation – Bibliophilic Exploration”, “Sports and Disability – A Relationship Beyond Barriers”, and “Culture of a City and Its Imprint on Writing Style”.

The participating speakers, panellists and moderators include Padamshree Prof. Shiv Nirmohi; Johnny Williams, IG Retd; Brig Rajiv Mahna, SM, YSM ,VSM Retd.; Group Captain Kamal Singh Obreh Retd.; Ajay Kumar Siotra; Sugam Bral; Kanwal Singh, Dr Chirdeep Malhotra; Shwetima Jamwal; Rajat Vohra; Nishtha Mahajan; Chandeep Singh; Kritika Khanna; Surinder Kour Neer; Arush Mahajan; Jasleen Kour; and Sunny Dua.

Shiv Aksh group will be performing mime to bring alive the world famous painting of Sohni Mahiwal. Rajat Vohra will be sharing the journey of the protagonist Rahul of the novel “Second Wind” by Minal Arora.

On the steps being taken to make the event successful, Nupur says, “The team of Yayavar LitFest is excited to conduct this literary festival.
