SOTTO J&K celebrated 11th Indian Organ Donation Day in Super Speciality Hospital

Jammu. To mark the celebrations of 11th Indian Organ Donation Day falling on 27th of November, a seminar was organized by State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO), J&K under the Chairmanship on Principal Govt.Medical College Jammu, Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma in the Conference Hall of Super Specialty Hospital Jammu with the idea of spreading awareness for Organ Donation.

In the beginning of the seminar, Joint Director SOTTO J&K, Dr. SL Kachroo gave brief speech on Organ donation and implementation of National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) and working of SOTTO J&K. He spoke about the need for organ donation and the misconceptions related to the Organ Donation.

Later on, Principal GMC Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma informed participants that GMC is going to start Renal transplant in the hospital soon and said that efforts in this direction are going on. She appealed people to donate organs and save lives.

Dr. Satish Gupta,HOD Opthalomology along with his residents attended the seminar. Dr.Nancy Sharma from department of Opthalomology, GMC Jammu gave a presentation on Eye Donation.

Dr. Raju Bhandari, from the department of Nephrology gave a brief description of magnitude of Chronic Kidney (renal) disease particularly in patients with diabetes mellitus and hypertension and the ultimate need for dialysis or Kidney transplantation in these patients.

Dr.Arun Sharma, Medical superintendent, Super Specialty Hospital Jammu told about the achievements of the SOTTO J&K since its establishment about one year back.

Various HODs and faculty from other departments also attended the seminar.

Miss Anshu Sharma, Consultant(IEC/Media) SOTTO J&K presented the Vote of thanks and Irfan Ahmed Lone, Transplant Coordinato, SOTTO J&K conducted the whole event.
