K K Sharma takes oath as State Election Comm

Jammu: The Advisor to Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, KK Sharma on Friday resigned and
took oath as the J&K election commissioner.
Sharma, a 1983 retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre was today appointed as State Election Commissioner.
Government spokesperson, Rohit Kansal, in a tweet said: “KK Sharma resigns as advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K; appointed State Election Commissioner.”
Meawhile Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha administered the oath to Sharma as State Election Commissioner.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor congratulated Kewal Kumar Sharma for his new appointment.
First appointed as advisor to the then Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor GC Murmu in November 2019, Sharma was retained when Murmu took over as the 14th Comptroller and Auditor General of India in August of this year. With a career spanning over three decades, Sharma then served sitting J&K LG Manoj Sinha prior to his appointment as the UT's election commissioner on Friday.
KK Sharma has also held the offices of chief secretary of Delhi and Goa among other top positions. Prior to his retirement, he also served as a Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and an advisor to the administrator of Chandigarh.
