Leopard injures four in Pulwama

Srinagar, Oct 27: Four people, including a woman, were injured in a leopard attack in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Tuesday, official sources said.

They said a leopard entered village Ruhmoo in Pulwama from the nearby forest when farmers were busy in their orchards. However, before people could do anything, a leopard attacked and injured four persons working in the orchard.

The wild animal later escaped back into the forest, they said adding the injured were rushed to a local hospital from where they were later referred to District Hospital Pulwama. The injured were identified as Umar Gul, Taja Begum, Abdul Ahad Dar and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar.

People of the area held demonstrations alleging that due to non-availability of an ambulance, injured were shifted to a district hospital in private vehicles.
They also protested against the wildlife department alleging that despite informing the officials about the movement of a wild animal, the department failed to take any preventive measure.
