Cyber police warns people about online scam in name of SWSs

Srinagar, Oct 19 : The Cyber police, Kashmir, has warned people about online scam in the name of Social Welfare Schemes (SWS) and urged them not to share their bank account details with anyone.

A spokesman for the Cyber police station, Kashmir Zone, Srinagar said that there are fraudsters claiming to be from “ Central Social Welfare” departments targeting the real beneficiaries of different schemes.

He said They are calling and enticing them that scheme funds will be directly transferred into their accounts and asking for bank account details.

However, he said, once you share bank account details, they withdraw money from your account.

Therefore, the spokesman said, “ Do not share your OTP, account details, CVV number, credit card” details to anyone introducing himself or herself from central welfare department. “ Be Alert Be Safe”, the spokesman said.

The Cyber police has earlier also warned of fake job scam operated through Facebook and WhatsApp and Facebook video calling scam.
