COVID-19 || Toll mounts to 1379 with 9 new deaths, 578 tested +ve

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir recorded seven more deaths due to COVID-19, pushing the total number of fatalities due to the deadly virus to 1379 while the Union Territory recorded 578 positive cases on Sunday, taking the overall tally of infections to 87,942.
Of the latest seven fatalities, three deaths were reported in Jammu and 4 from Valley. With fresh three deaths in Jammu region, the death toll has reached to 457. The death toll in Kashmir region has reached to 922 with four fresh fatalities.
Among those who succumbed to the pestilence include four residents of Srinagar and one each belonged to Pulwama, Jammu, Doda and Kathua. The deceased include a 60-yearold man from Tral Pulwama who died at SKIMS Soura, two days after he was admitted to the tertiary care hospital ,a 70-year-old woman from Rawalpora, a 75-year-old man from Lal Bazar Srinagar, a 83-year-old woman from Narwal Satwari, Jammu.
Srinagar district with 332 deaths tops the list followed by 237 in Jammu, 135 in Baramulla, 90 in Budgam, 77 in Pulwama, 72 in Kupwara, 70 in Anantnag, 43 Kulgam, 42 in Bandipora, 45 in Rajouri, 42 in Doda, 33 in Shopian, 30 in Ganderbal and 30 in Kathua.
Out of the fresh cases, 193 are from Jammu and 385 from the Kashmir. Srinagar district reported the highest number of 167 fresh COVID-19 cases, followed by 119 in Jammu district. There are 8,677 active coronavirus cases, while 77,886 patients have recovered so far, they said.
Moreover, 598 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 288 from Jammu Division and 310 from Kashmir Division.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 87942
positive cases, 8677 are Active Positive, 77886 have recovered and 1379 have died; 457
in Jammu division and 922 in Kashmir division. The out of 2004113 test results available, 1916171 samples have been tested as negative till October 18, 2020. Till date 627750 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 21218 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 8677 in isolation and 52490 in-home surveillance. Besides, 543986 persons have completed their surveillance period.
