Director Technical JTFRP inspects works in South Kashmir; Asks executing agencies for expeditious completion

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 29: Director Technical Project Management Unit, Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP), Basharat Jeelani Kawoosa, today exhorted upon the executing agencies of R&B and JKPCC to expedite work on all projects being executed under the World Bank funded JTFRP in the valley.
Kawoosa issued these instructions to the authorities during his day long inspection of various works being executed in various parts of South Kashmir under JTFRP.
During his visit to Rs. 21.25 crore Rohmoo Bridge in Pulwama district, the Director was informed by the General Manager JKPCC that work on the sub-structure of the bridge has been completed while fabrication is underway on the superstructure.
Director asked the JKPCC to expedite pace of work on the bridge sub-project and start work on other parallel activities like demarcation of the approaches for the bridge, procurement of the bridge bearings.
At Trenz Bridge in Shopian, which is being executed by JKPPC at a cost of Rs 34.50 crore, GM informed that the work on the sub-structure is underway which is expected to be completed within 3 weeks.
Director asked the JKPPC to accelerate the work on the bridge sub-project with the start of work on other parallel activities like demarcation of approaches and other allied activities.
Director also inspected progress of work on construction/upgradation of Rs 3.36 crore Malangpora-Chakora-Chowdhary Bagh-Litter-road in Pulwama which is also being executed by JKPPC. He was informed that work on the road sub-project will be completed within 15-20 days.
Later, Basharat Kawoosa visited various project sites where work is being executed by R&B, Kashmir.
During visit to the construction site of additional classroom block at Government Degree College Bijbehara which is being executed by R&B Kashmir at a cost of Rs 9.21 crore, Director was informed that work on the ground floor of the block has been completed and shuttering for laying of slab on 1st floor is underway.
He also visited various work sites in Arwani, Naina Batpora, Bijbehara and other areas where work on construction of various school buildings is underway by R&B Kashmir under the JTFRP.
Meanwhile, Director inspected work on Wachi Bridge which is being executed by R&B Kashmir at an estimated cost of Rs. 3.1 crore. He was informed that requisite test pile investigation of the site has been undertaken and initial load test is being taken up presently.
Director asked the officers of the JKPCC and R&B, Kashmir to further accelerate the pace of work on all the sub-projects with specific impetus on parallel activities and undertake all the allied activities to prevent the slippage of timelines and cost overruns.
