Gunfight breaks out after militants attack security forces in south Kashmir's Anantnag

SRINAGAR: A fierce gunfight broke out after militants attacked security forces in Sangam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Tuesday.

Quoting a senior police officer, news agency TNN reported that militants attacked a party of army’s 03RR in Marahama area.

He said the militants fled from the spot after the attack but were intercepted by a joint team of police and army nearby, triggering a gunfight.

There was no immediate report of any loss of life. The intermittent exchange of fire was on when this report was being filed.
