IUST, other educational institutions postpone exam, on-line classes in Pulwama

Srinagar, Sep 28: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) and other educational institutions postponed examinations and on-line classes of students due to suspension of mobile internet service in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, where security forces resumed Cordon and Search Operation (CASO).

Two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants were killed and a soldier was injured in the encounter which ensued on Sunday evening during a CASO.

Official sources said that mobile internet service of all Cellular companies, including Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSN) was suspended last evening as a precautionary measure to prevent rumours. However, suspension of mobile internet students and doctors and other professionals were worst hit.

The IUST suspended examination which were scheduled to be held today due to no internet.

All other educational institutions also suspended on-line classes today due to suspension of internet.

''We were attending on-line classes by our teachers during the first half of the day every morning, a tenth class student of a private school at Pampore Zulkarnain said. Today we were told that there will be no on-line classes due to no internet, he said adding all educational institutions in our area remained closed since March this year due to COVID-19.

The government has recently announced to reopen high and higher secondary schools in the Kashmir valley. Students were given choice to attend their schools are take on-line classes.

However, very less response was witnessed in the town and cities while in rural areas some students were seen attending their schools to seek guidance from teachers.

In some areas teachers were holding open classes for students in the valley, including Srinagar outskirts.
