United Nation: India has said it would not discuss the ongoing border dispute with China over LAC at the United Nations and both sides are mature enough to deal with such issues bilaterally through the existing confidence building measures.
India's permanent representative to the UN, T S Tirumurti, told Sputnik that "Both sides have the maturity to deal these issues bilaterally through the existing confidence-building mechanisms'.
When asked whether India would be requesting a discussion at the United Nations on the issue, Mr. Tirumurti said 'We are already working on the issue bilaterally'
"We do not see a role for the UN in our bilateral matters." he added.
Tension along the LAC between the two countries rose as a result of China's border belligerence in Ladakh. Both countries have been involved in series of negotiations at various levels to defuse the tension and resolve the issue.
India has rejected an offer by US President Donald Trump to mediate between the two Asian giants saying both countries would resolve the issue bilaterally.
