Working of E Plant Clinics reviewed

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 23: Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), B. K. Chandan today visited R.S. Pura and Samba areas to assess the working of E Plant clinics. He was accompanied by Programme Leader, CABI, South Asia Dr. Vinod Pandit and In charge Plant Health Clinic Jammu, Arun Khajuria during the visit.
The visiting team of officers took stock of functioning of E Plant Clinics at R.S Pura, Arnia, Ramgarh and Vijaypur.
Joint Director instructed the SDAO R.S. Pura, to utilise the service of one Plant doctor at Sub-Division office to guide the visiting farmers regarding insect pest and plant diseases.
Programme Leader, CABI, South Asia Dr Vinod Pandit on the occasion requested the Joint Director for frequent conductance of training programmes to update the knowledge of existing plant doctors and capacity building of fresh eligible officers as back up Plant doctors.
In charge Plant Health Clinic Jammu, Arun Khajuria on the occasion asked the plant doctors to always follow the IPM module and “Process of Elimination” while making recommendations to the farmers. He further cautioned the Plant doctors to avoid the recommendation of red listed pesticides.
It was informed that clinics are being organized every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month where live plant samples are diagnosed and results are communicated to the farmers through SMS.
