Book Review: "Kismet or Karma - Unleash the Mystery" by Pooja Agrawal

Does everything in our lives depend on fate and destiny, or does luck play a role? The author Pooja Agrawal has come out with the book “Kismet or Karma- Unleash the Mystery”, which forays into the facet that whether fate or actions drive the topsy-turvy lives of the book’s characters.

The storyline follows four protagonists – Ansh, Maaya, Rohan and Trisha, whose tales are intertwined with each other. Ansh, who lives in Lakshadweep Island, finds a girl on the island in adverse conditions. That girl is Maaya, who doesn’t remember much about her past. Both Ansh and Maaya fall in love with each other, and later Maaya regains her memory. The reader is then taken to the story of Maaya’s past, where Rohan and Trisha are major characters. Then, numerous twists and turns come in the storyline. After this, the story takes a gap of 20 years, where we get to know that Trisha is in Goa. Will the book’s characters be able to get past their Karma? What are the major turns in the story? The narrative then goes on to answer these questions.

The storyline is filled with various twists and turns, and this makes the book a gripping read. Lucid short poems are also interspersed within the narrative, which are like gusts of fresh air within the narrative packed with thrill and emotions.

The character development is good, and the back stories of the characters also propel the narrative further. Though the writer has used simple words in the narrative, but some usage of adorned words would have made the read more interesting. Also, there are a lot of editing and grammatical errors in this book, which somewhat makes the read bumpy.

This book should be read by those wanting to read a story having a riveting storyline and power-packed emotions – of love, romance, anger, jealousy, revenge, and sacrifice.
