Jammu Covid-19 situation ‘horrific, pathetic’, says Umesh Talashi
Jammu : Amid spike in Covid-related deaths and a surge in the number of cases, Umesh Talashi, a Kashmiri Pandit Sarpanch and Political Activist said the healthcare system is completely fractured in Jammu city.
“The overall scenario is quite grim and pathetic, there is no room for complacency. It can prove catastrophic unless an emergent and proactive response is taken to save precious lives,” Talashi said in a statement.
Talashi said that , People are dying with thought of getting admitted in GMC, and other Govt hospitals in Jammu & Kashmir.
Shortage of oxygen cylinders, Un-hygenic hospital wards and quarantine centers, has caused major havoc in the city. Paramedics were seen escaping out of windows leaving behind patients at the mercy of God, he said.
Talashi further added that well off people especially politicians and elite class people prefer private hospitals over Govt hospitals because they are very well aware of the poor facilities in Govt hospitals.
He urged the Govt to take a serious note of this issue and ensure proper and hygenic facilities across Govt hospitals for recovery of patients.
