J&K’s Covid death toll crosses 1K mark, caseload nearly 64K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Fourteen more fatalities related to coronavirus infection in a day took the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir past the 1,000-mark, even as the deadly virus continued its upward movement, with 1,457 people testing positive for deadly virus on Sunday, taking the overall tally of infections to 63,990.
Of the fresh deaths, nine were reported from Jammu and five from the Valley. With these deaths the toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 1001 including 769 from Kashmir division and 232 from Jammu division
Out of fresh 1457 reported cases, 640 were reported in Valley and 817 in Jammu region. As many as 692 patients were discharged from the hospitals following their treatment—312 in Jammu and 380 in Kashmir. With this the recoveries also saw a massive rise, settling 40957 while actives now stand at 22032.
As per a media bulletin, of 817 cases in Jammu region, 266 were reported from Jammu, 76 from Rajouri, 65 from Ramban, 46 from Kathua, 62 from Udhampur, 33 from Samba, 151 from Doda, 60 from Poonch, 14 from Reasi and 44 from Kishtwar.
Among the 640 fresh Valley cases, 228 were reported from Srinagar, 86 from Baramulla, 50 from Pulwama, 19 from Kulgam, 9 from Shopian, 49 from Anantnag, 78 from Budgam, 29 from Kupwara, 35 from Bandipora and 57 from Ganderbal.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 63990 positive cases, 22032 are Active Positive, 40957 have recovered and 1001 have died; 232 in Jammu division and 769 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 1396729 test results available, 1332739 samples have been tested as negative till September 20, 2020.
Till date 543541 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 25983 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 22032 in isolation and 67149 under home surveillance. Besides, 427376 persons have completed their surveillance period.
