NEW DELHI: With a single-day increase of over 98 thousand cases, India's COVID-19 tally crossed 51-lakh mark on Wednesday, while the death toll crossed 83 thousand with over 1100 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.
According to Union health ministry data updated on Wednesday morning, India's COVID-19 tally of cases galloped past 50 lakh, just 11 days after it crossed 40 lakh, with 90,123 infections being reported in a day, while recoveries surged to 39,42,360.
The total coronavirus cases mounted to 50,20,359, while the death toll climbed to 82,066 with a record 1,290 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
However, by the evening, a tally of figures showed that India's COVID-19 count has reached 51,04,033, a spike of 98070 cases.
The tally compiled with information provided by respective states and union territories latest by 9:00 pm, showed India's death toll at 83121; and recoveries at 40,11,843, an increase of 1132 and 85747, respectively.
