JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Ninteen more Covid-19 patients including 14 from Jammu region died on Tuesday, pushing the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir over the 900-mark, while 1329 fresh positive cases raised the infections tally in the Union Territory to 56,654.
Led by 254 cases from the winter capital alone, Jammu region (741) outnumbered the Kashmir Valley (588) once again, while as many as 681 patients were discharged from the hospitals following their treatment—214 in Jammu and 467 in Kashmir.
With this the recoveries settled at 37062, while the actives positive cases now stand at 18678, including 10408 from Jammu region and 8270 from Kashmir Valley.
Ninteen more patients including 14 from Jammu region and 5 from Valley died on Tuesday, taking the total number of fatalities due to the deadly virus in union territory to 915.
As per media bulletin, 14 deceased from Jammu division include seven from Jammu district, two each from Udhampur, Ramban and Doda and one from Kuthua.
Two of the seven deceased Jammu district a 82-year-old man and a 52-year-old man from Nanak Nagar while details of others were not available immediately.
Two among the 14 persons from Jammu division died in Srinagar hospitals and includes a 68-year-old from Banihal who succumbed at CD hospital, a day after he was admitted in one of the exclusive facilities for the management of covid-19 patients. The another victim, a 45-year-old man from Batawote Ramban died at SKIMS Soura where he was admitted on August 8 as a case of Diagnosis a case of “CA Oesophagus with Metastasis with Severe Covid Pneumonia with encephalopathy with sepsis with shock.”
The five Valley deceased included 3 from Srinagar and one each from Baramulla and Kupwara. They included a 60-year-old woman from Kangan Ganderbal , a 70-year-old woman from Bohri Kadal Srinagar, a 52-year-old woman from Tangdar Kupwara, a 65-year-old from HMT Srinagar and a 55-year-old from Hawal Srinagar.
With 19 more deaths, the death toll in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 915 including from 741 Kashmir division and 174 from Jammu division.
There was no let up in new infections as Jammu and Kashmir recorded 1,329 new COVID-19 cases, taking the union territory's infection tally to 56,654.
Of the 741 fresh cases in Jammu region, Jammu district reported the highest 254 cases, while 51 were reported from Udhampur, 105 from Rajouri , 62 from Kathua, 31 from Samba, 38 from Poonch, 26 from Ramban, 114 from Doda, 15 from Reasi and 45 from Kishtwar.
As per a media bulletin, among the 588 fresh Valley cases, 148 were reported from Srinagar, 1277 from Budgam, 20 from Baramulla, 70 from Pulwama, 57 from Anantnag, 43 from Kupwara, 38 from Bandipora, 15 from Kulgam, 59 from Ganderbal and 11 from Shopian.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 56654 positive cases, 18678 are Active Positive, 37062 have recovered and 914 have died; 174 in Jammu division and 740 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 1270310 test results available, 1213656 samples have been tested as negative till September 15, 2020.
Till date 527802 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 34530 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 18678 in isolation and 60298 under home surveillance. Besides, 413382 persons have completed their surveillance period.
