Six OGWs held across Valley, Rs 6 lakh seized

SRINAGAR: In three different operations, the security forces on Tuesday arrested six militant associates from different parts of the Valley and recovered from them Rs 6 lakh in cash, along with other arms and ammunition.
Two overground workers (OGWs) of militants were arrested from Pulwama district and Rs 6 lakh were seized from their possession meant for funding the Al-Badr militant outfit, police said.
"Acting on a specific information, police and security forces today morning arrested two militant associates at Ladhoo Crossing when the duo was travelling on a scooter from Shopian district to Khrew area in Pulwama," a police official said.
He said the arrested persons have been identified as Rayees-ul-Hassan and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, both residents of the Awantipora area in the district.
"Incriminating material of proscribed outfit Al-Badr has been recovered from their possession which includes Rs 6 lakh Indian currency, he said.
The two-wheeler, bearing registration number JK01AC- 4035, used for the commission of the crime has also been seized, the official added. A case under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities Act has been registered in police station Khrew in this connection, he said.
Meanwhile, three militant associates of Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested from Ganderbal district during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.
The official said the arrested persons of the module were instructed by their Pakistani handler Fayaz Khan to join militancy and undertake attacks on security forces in the area.
"During sustained questioning, the trio disclosed the location of three hand-grenades which were recovered on their instance," he said.
They were identified as Arshid Ahmad Khan of Wayil wuder Gutlibagh, Majid Rasool Rather and Mohd Asif Najar—both from Beehama Ganderbal.
“An operation was launched by joint team police station Ganderbal and 5RR during the intervening night of 14/15 September and all three local youth arrested and incriminating electronic gadgets recovered. During sustained questioning the trio disclosed about possession of three hand grenades which were eventually recovered on their instance,” the statement read.
Also, Police in Handwara along with security forces have arrested a terrorist associate in Kralgund area and recovered arms & ammunition from his possession.
On a specific input, a cordon and search operation was launched by Handwara Police along with 32 RR and 92 CRPF in Village Nehama Kralgund. During search, one terrorist associate identified as Shahid Hassain dar resident of Nehama Kralgund was apprehended.
Incriminating materials including arms and ammunitions were recovered from his possession.
A case FIR No. 88/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kralgund and investigation has been initiated.
