India tally 48.36 lakh

NEW DELHI: With a single-day increase of over 95 thousand cases, India's COVID-19 tally crossed 48-lakh mark on Sunday, while the death toll neared 80 thousand with over 1100 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours.
According to Union health ministry data updated on Sunday morning, India's COVID-19 tally of cases sprinted past 47 lakh with 94,372 new infections being reported in a day, while 37,02,595 people have recuperated taking the national recovery rate to 77.88 per cent.
The total coronavirus cases mounted to 47,54,356, while the death toll climbed to 78,586 with 1,114 people succumbing to the infection in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.
However, by the evening, a tally of figures showed that India's COVID-19 count has reached 48,36,188, a spike of 95371 cases.
The tally compiled with information provided by respective states and union territories latest by 9:00 pm, showed India's death toll at 79644; and recoveries at 37,63,442, an increase of 1153 and 74460, respectively.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and it went past 40 lakh on September 5.
