LG’s new PS Nitishwar Kumar assumes office

JAMMU: Days after his appointment, Nitishwar Kumar has joined as the new Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The 1996 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre was seen on Friday, sitting next to Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam and Manoj Kumar Sinha in the press conference at Srinagar, Sinha’s first after his appointment as Lieutenant Governor last month.
On September 6, the Appointment Committee of Union Cabinet had approved the proposal of DoPT for inter-cadre deputation of Nitishwar Kumar, from UP cadre to the Union Territory of J&K for a period of one year. Later in the evening formal orders of Kumar’s posting as Principal Secretary to the Governor were issued by the General Administration Department.
He had replaced Bipual Pathak, who has been posted as Principal Secretary Information Technology.
Kumar, widely known for his literary pursuits, poetry and singing, has also served earlier with the Sinha when he was the Minister of State for Railways in Modi government. Kumar was Sinha’s Private Secretary between 2014 and 2018.
