Jaish OGWs held with ammunition brought to Samba for investigation

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday brought two over ground workers of Jaish-e-Mohammad arrested with ammunition in Kulgam, to Samba district as a part of the investigation, official sources here said.
Sources said that the police team shifted both the OGWs arrested in Kulgam this afternoon to Samba district, adding, “they took them to Basantar River to investigate the supply of arms and ammunition seized from the truck at a nakka laid at Jawahar Tunnel on the intervening night of September8-9.”
Pertinent to mention here that police along with other security agencies arrested two militant associates of banned JeM outfit and recovered live arms and ammunition from their possession during the intervening night of September 8 and 9 at a naka near Jawahar Tunnel.
A truck (JK22B-1737) was intercepted by the forces and during searches of the vehicle and during the interrogation of suspects, arms and ammunition including one AK rifle with two magazines (59 rounds), one M4Carbine with three magazines (90 rounds), six Chinese pistols with 12 magazines (84 rounds) were recovered from the vehicle.
Two arrested persons were identified as Bilal Ahmad Kuttay, of Chotapora Shopain, and Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir of Mandujan, Shopian.
“It is being investigated whether the weapons suppliedto them near River Basantar and who handed over the consignment of ammunition tothem besides involvement of any other and to whom they met on way towards Kashmir via Mansar Road,” sources added.
