COVID-19: Total crosses 22k with 590 new cases in J&K, toll rises to 407

Jammu, Aug 4: The total number of Coronavirus positive cases Monday crossed 22,000 mark while 12 patients died taking the total death toll due to Covid-19 to 407 in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials said that the new COVID-19 cases including 157 from Jammu and 433 from Kashmir reported taking the overall tally past 22006 marks in J&K.Moreover, at least 13 more people died of Coronavirus taking the total number of fatalities due to virus to 409.
Giving the district-wise breakup, officials said that Srinagar reported 180 cases, Baramulla 23, Pulwama 14, Kulgam 11, Shopian 6, Anantnag 35, Budgam 39, Kupwara 33, Bandipora 36 and Ganderbal 56.
In Jammu region, they said, Jammu reported 72 cases, Rajouri 11, Ramban 24, Kathua 12, Udhampur 14, Samba 8, Doda 1, Reasi 7, and Kishtwar 8.
Meanwhile, 11 people including 5 from Srinagar and 2 from Jammu died due to COVID-19 during the last 24 hours,taking the death toll to the infection in the UT of J&K to 407.
With these deaths, 372 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 last week with 84 people, mostly from Kashmir, losing the battle against the disease.
Official sources said that 5 Srinagar residents died due to COVID-19. “Two persons each also lost their live in Jammu and Anantnag,” they said.
They said the central Kashmir district of Ganderbal recorded its seventh death due to COVID-19 on Monday.
With these fatalities, the death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 135 in Srinagar which is the worst affected district in J&K in terms of casualities, followed by Baramulla with 72 deaths.The number has swelled to 26 in Anantnag and 28 in Budgam.As many as 23 people each have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in Shopian and 21 in Kupwara while 22 deaths were reported in Pulwama.
65 people lost their lives between July 13-19 due to COVID-19 in J&K.As many 48 patients including 10 person from Baramulla, 12 from Srinagar,6 from Kulgam 3 from Anantnag, Kupwara and Budgam, Jammu region, two each from Shopian and Ganderbal died between July 6 and July 12.
As many 41 people including 9 from Srinagar, 10 from Baramulla, 5 each from Anantnag, 3 Kulgam,Budgam and Shopian, 2 each from Kupwara and Bandipora, one each from Jammu and Ganderbal died due to COVID-19 between June 29 and July 5.
