Restore defunct water supply schemes in Kalakote:WACK
JAMMU: A virtual meeting-cum-protest on “Water crisis in Kalakote” was held today which was otherwise scheduled to be held at Kalakote today i.e., 31-07-2020 at 11 am by Water Action Committee Kalakote (WACK).The virtual conference participants were wearing black batches and depicting their problems of water scarcity, misuse of funds, non-availability of operational infrastructure and manpower on the play cards.
They were demanding restoration of non-functional and semi-functional drinking water schemes, irrigation kuls, canals and functioning of filter plants.This was first of its kind silent protest which will be continued till the genuine demands of the people are met. Similarly, protest will be held tomorrow at 11 am via Zoom Virtual meet platform and those having drinking water and irrigation water supply problems may join the same to ensure that their problems are listed and transmitted to the Lt. Governor, Jammu & Kashmir for redressal.
Chairman of the Committee, Mr.Ashok Sharma, projected the local demands and said that this is wake up call for the concerned authorities of PHE and Irrigation Department to activate them and look into the grievances of the people ensuring them adequate water supply.
